Herriman Skate Park receives praise at grand opening event

City officials jumped out of the way to narrowly escape being trampled by an anxious crowd of skaters – old and young – when they officially opened the gates to the new Herriman Skate Park.
Although the park has been open since early December, Herriman Mayor Lynn Crane, designer Wally Hollyday, city officials, and residents key to the instigation of the park helped cut the ribbon at the official grand opening event April 11.

Riverton Wal-Mart getting ready to open its doors: Will hire 360 employees

A controversial Wal-Mart supercenter that some local homeowners said would threaten their small town lifestyle will open for business May 21.
The store, at 13400 South 3300 West, will finally open its doors 7:30 a.m. that day after five years of planning and construction. The store has already hired 230 of an expected 360 employees, 70 percent of them full time (36 to 40 hours per week). Store Manager Scott Trudo said the average starting wage is $10.80 per hour.

Bluffdale ambulance service projected to begin June 1

Utah’s Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has approved Bluffdale’s request for an emergency medical service, ambulance transport and paramedic license. This will allow the Bluffdale Fire Department to move its ambulance service under the department’s umbrella.
Bluffdale Fire Chief John Roberts said the city is still waiting to receive approval from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency to distribute emergency drugs, such as morphine.
