Salt Lake County mayor dedicates new geological park

Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon officially dedicated the opening of the G. K. Gilbert Geological View Park in the Granite community at the corner of Wasatch Blvd. and 9800 South May 7.

The park is a great place to view some of Utah’s geological features, said Utah Geological Survey Director Rick Allis.

“Utah has some of the finest geologic scenery in the world,” he said. “This is the perfect place to start a geologic journey.”

PD recognizes service to the department at awards banquet

The Sandy Police Department held its annual awards and Officer of the Year banquet May 14 at the South Town Expo Center.

“It is the time of year we get together during Law Enforcement Week to recognize department employees and our citizens for their exceptional performance over the course of the last year,” said Police Chief Stephen Chapman.

The banquet featured the Sandy Police Pipe Band, honor guard and three employees singing the National Anthem.

White City folks to get a new but quiet neighbor

The White City Water Improvement District plans to start drilling a new well in June near Dimple Dell Regional Park, 10400 South 1300 East. It will be the seventh operational well to supply water to White City residents.
